A Prettier-Than-Mac Ubuntu In Two Years


July 22, 2008 - Ubuntu founder Mark Shuttleworth announced at the O'Reilly Open Source Convention (OSCON) that his company, Canonical is working to make Ubuntu better-looking than Apple. Shuttleworth said:

"I think the great task in front of us in the next two years is to lift the experience of the Linux desktop from something stable and usable and not pretty, to something that's art,"

"Think of the way the iPhone uses a pure software experience, it abstracts away all the hardware," he said. "You can paint anything on the screen because it's all software."
